What career fits you?
The Career Key - Measures how similar you are to six personality types and how these relate to different jobs. You are then encouraged to explore them using the Occupational Outlook Handbook. It is fun, free, and may help you figure out the direction you should take.
The Keirsey Temperament Sorter This personality inventory organizes your answers to approximately 60 questions into four personality types. More information is given about temperament, and gives the personality types of famous people. Very interesting site.
ASVAB Program - This site has information about the ASVAB test and how the ASVAB can help you in career exploration and planning for the future.

Planning a Career - This site has one of the best overall career planning strategies available on the web. It is divided into sections for high school, middle school and college students, as well as a section for school counselors.
Occupational Outlook Handbook - Published by the US Dept of Labor, the Handbook gives detailed information on several hundred different careers.
Learn Link - Learn about different careers, your strengths and career compatibility, build and post your resume.
Opportunity Link - This site claims to let you explore "real world" careers and learn what opportunities are available to students through local businesses.
Career Profiles Index - Alpha list of hundreds of careers with descriptions that include education/training, wages, job outlook and more. Great site!
Princeton Review - Go straight to the "career search" on this site. It has a fairly large database of careers that start with "A day in the life of ..."

SAT
ACT - Register online, take some practice test questions, check out the national test dates, and try their test prep program. Also has information about the PLAN test and other ACT information.
College Board Online Register for the SAT online! Also, find a college search program, recommended high school courses for college, PSAT information and sample questions for both the SAT and PSAT. If you are taking SAT II tests in math, this site will tell you which one to take. This is your full service website for college planning.
Peterson’s – This is a great site for SAT, ACT and PSAT test information. Here you can take practice exams, purchase prep material and they offer college search and planning information.
PSAT - Here is the direct link to PSAT information, which is a test given to Juniors in October. It is also the National Merit Semi-finalist Qualifying Test. This site explains the PSAT and the National Merit Competition. It also has online review questions.

Financial Aid
The Student Guide - This government publication is one of the best, most concise and well organized explanations of the financial aid process anywhere. Check it out to find out the answers to all your financial aid questions!

FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) They promise quicker turnaround time if you fill out the FAFSA on the web. It's a good idea to pick up a hard copy of the FAFSA in the counseling center so you know ahead of time what information they are going to require.
Seniors: If you plan to start college in the fall following graduation, you and your parents need to submit a FAFSA between January 1 and March 1 of your senior year for optimum results.

FAFSA PIN - Before you can apply for financial aid online, you need to register for a Personal Identification Number (PIN) for you and your parents. This serves as you electronic signature when you fill out the FAFSA online.
Title IV School Codes - You'll need these school codes when you fill out the FAFSA. Very quick way to the code numbers!

EducationQuest - This is the best local site there is for college planning. They cover all the bases, from how to write a resume, to how to figure out the financial aid process. They are the experts in financial aid, and all college bound students in Nebraska should check their web site... and go visit them at Rockbrook Village.They will help you with scholarships as well! Best of all, their help is free!

NRCCUA This is the National Research Center for College and University Admissions and it has some great information for students and parents about the whole college planning process. This is a must see site!
JA Financial Aid Center information on planning and paying for college, also information of parents, an interactive scholarship search and budgeting calculators

Americorps - This explains the volunteer programs of service to America, like VISTA and The National Civilian Community Corps. Americorps workers also work for Habitat for Humanity, the Red Cross and Boys and Girls Clubs. It is a great program for those who are really interested in doing something for the country as a civilian.
